Mirchi Ka Salan is an authentic Hyderabadi sesame peanut based tangy spicy curry made with green chilies. Generally speaking, Hyderabadi dishes are very spicy and aromatic, and this is one of them.
Instructions to make Hyderabadi Mirchi Salan:
- Take a pan, heat on low flame of gas. Roast ground nuts, sesame seeds, whole coriander seeds, dry grated coconut, one by one separately. Transfer into other bowl. Keep aside to cool completely.
- Now in a same pan, put oil, fry green chillies, and take out from oil. In same oil add jeera, hing, saute for a while. Add chopped onion, stir well till it turns translucent.
- Meanwhile grind all roasted ingredients in a mixer, make it coarse powder. Onion is cooked, add garlic ginger chilli paste, mix well.
- Add roasted grounded masala, mix well, add salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, mix well. Add curd, tamarind pulp and jaggery stir it, add water as required to make gravy. Lastly add fried green chillies. Cover a lid, cook for 1 minute. Open it, mix well, you can see oil is on gravy. Turn off gas stove.
